Critical Care Complex
After successfully completing the formwork and joinery packages to the new Maternity Unit and Renal Unit, Mastercraft were first choice to construct the frame of the new £40 million Critical Care Complex at the Ulster Hospital. The 25,000m sq building comprises of a basement and 4 floors of theatres, administration and laboratory space above.
Mastercraft constructed all the concrete elements of the building, which included two triple lift cores and two single lift cores. All concrete columns were formed using Peri Vario column walers and GT24 girders. Staircores and other walls were formed with Trio Panels. The floor slab formwork was erected using Airodek system, which allowed swift recycling of formwork materials, as the system could be struck out after a 4 day curing period.
