Located between Oxford Street and Hollen Street, the Hat Factory and Beaver Building is a resurrection of historical and industrial heritage fused with the modern vibrancy of central London life. The project was a major reshaping of the renowned Henry Heath's Victorian factory buildings, converting them into eight contemporary loft-style apartments.
As both the Hat Factory and Beaver Building are listed buildings, extra care was taken to comply with conservation approach to restoring and upgrading the building. New features included a rooftop extension, provision of new lifts, construction of new lift cores, upgrade of complex M&E services & plant and installation of solar panels.
Mastercraft's Involvement:
Mastercraft Construction were employed, throughout this contract, at three stages of its development. In the first, we erected timber frame buildings on existing flat roofs, to extend the floor areas of the new apartments. Following this, Mastercraft provided ongoing management support to the Main Contractor, keeping the project on target for an ambitious completion date. In the final phase we carried out the fitting of the joinery items. This included the bespoke engineered flooring seen throughout the apartments, flush fitted door sets with matching skirtings and high-end ironmongery.
