Mastercraft Construction were appointed as sub contractor by Graham's to roof the new building. Following that we were appointed to fit the internal joinery elements, including doorsets, ironmongery and skirting. The building was to be of a high specification because it was to be used as a luxury office furniture showroom, in central London.
The roofing work consisted of fixing supporting timber members to the metal frame and forming large openings. These were to carry the bespoke window lights, creating an open and airy feel inside. Finally, the roof area was sheeted in plywood before the zinc covering was added.
The door frames were a key feature in the building internally, as they were designed with no architraves, to keep each wall perfectly flush. The frames had to be carefully aligned with the internal walls so that a small even shadow gap could be formed around the opening, executing the look the architect wanted to achieve. The skirting was fitted to match the flush door frame, each piece fitted to the same detail, with a flush and uniform shadow gap.
